In the summer of 2008, city leaders of Johnson City began the process of developing a comprehensive plan to help the City prepare for and manage growth. Staff from PEC and LCRA and input from the public aided in the Plan's creation. The planning process culminated in the 2009 Johnson City Comprehensive Plan, which is still in use today.
The plan is divided into seven chapters that cover housing, land use and other aspects pertinent to the proper growth of a city. When taken together, all these elements represent a road map for Johnson City leaders, both present and future.
The Economic Development Advisory Board, Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council are working to attain many of the goals outlined in this plan as well as to update goals as others are achieved.
