Recycling Services

NOTE: The Recycle Center no longer accepts e-waste.

The Recycling Center is located at 204 FM 2766 (A. Robinson Road). The Recycling facility is open to the public as follows:

- Monday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Tuesday from 7:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.  


RESIDENTIAL RECYCLING:



The City of Johnson City offers single stream curbside recycling for residents through Progressive Waste services. All recyclables can be thrown into one container and put on the curb every other Friday morning for pick-up. Upon initiation of trash services, each residence will be provided a blue recycle container to use for recyclables only. For more information regarding residential recycling or to report a complaint, please call (830) 868-7111. 

If a resident wishes to have a second tote, a small fee will be applied to their monthly water/sewer bill.

COUNTY RECYCLING:



The Recycling Center is open to Blanco County Residents. However, county residents are subject to the self service guidelines. Please note: the City of Johnson City DOES NOT offer curbside pick up for county residents.

Residential Curbside Recycling:


Progressive provides residential curbside recycling. Each residential customer receives a blue tote. All recyclables can be placed in the tote. Residents DO NOT have to separate their recyclables, nor do they need to bag them. Neither are residents charged for their tote. (Please do not place used oil in your blue recycle tote.)

However, if a resident wishes to have a second tote, a small fee will be applied to their monthly water/sewer bill.

Progressive picks up recycling on every other Friday. Totes must be placed at the curb Friday morning.

COMMERCIAL RECYCLING:



The City of Johnson City only offers curbside pick up for businesses, churches, schools and the county for a fee. Otherwise, if an entity of these types wish to recycle,they may bring their recyclables to the Johnson City Recycle Center located at 204 FM 2766.

*Please note that the Recycle Center DOES NOT accept glass or plastics.

COMMERCIAL RECYCLING GUIDELINES:

Businesses that select to have their recyclable items picked up by the City of Johnson for processing at the City Recycle Center must follow these guidelines:

  • ALL CARDBOARD BOXES MUST BE BROKEN DOWN AND FLATTENED.

  • ALL GLASS MUST BE SEPARATED FROM CARDBOARD. THE JC RECYCLING CENTER DOES NOT TAKE GLASS.

Boxes full of glass bottles will not be picked up. 

  • TIN/ALUMINUM CANS AND CONTAINERS MUST BE:
    • WASHED WITH NO FOOD RESIDUE, and
    • SEPARATED FROM GLASS (WHICH IS NOT ACCEPTED AT THE RECYCLING CENTER) AND CARDBOARD.
PLASTICS AND GLASS WILL NOT BE PICKED UP BY THE CITY. THE CITY RECYCLE CENTER DOES NOT ACCEPT PLASTIC AND GLASS.

These may be disposed of at the Blanco County Facility located on Transfer Station Road. 

ITEMS NOT IN COMPLIANCE WITH THESE GUIDELINES

WILL NOT BE PICKED UP FOR RECYCLING.
